Thirteen miles south of
Downtown Los Angeles on the
campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson,
California, the Home Depot Center hosts two Major League Soccer (MLS)
teams -- the Los Angeles Galaxy and Club Deportivo Chivas USA. With the
nickname "The Cathedral of Soccer," this 27,000-seat sports and
entertainment complex opened in June 2003 with a celebration of events.
The Home Depot Center Track Field hosts the Los Angeles Riptide
lacrosse team.
One of the 10 founding teams of the league, and a two-time
winner of the MLS Cup, the Galaxy is now the home to the biggest star
in soccer today, David Beckham.
Founded in 2004, Chivas USA shares the red, white, blue, and
gold colors of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, a popular Mexican team.
