More than 130,000 readers, writers, and book-lovers come to LA each April for the annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, one of the largest celebrations of books and literature in the nation. Begun in 1996, today the festival includes over 400 authors, more than 95 readings and panel discussions, and over 300 exhibition booths by booksellers, publishers, and literacy organizations.

The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books also features extensive children's programming, including a storytelling stage and educational activities, as well as books and events in a myriad of languages to reflect the cultural diversity of Southern California's population.

The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books takes place on multiple indoor and outdoor stages on the UCLA campus in LA's Westwood district, near Bel Air and Beverly Hills. There is no admission charge for the festival or its events. Due to limited seating, some of the indoor venues may require advanced (free) tickets.
