With more than 785 miles of roads that include hundreds of miles of trails, adventurous visitors may want to explore the landscape by mountain biking or hiking. The park service has categorized the hikes according to level of difficulty. Those who want to spend more than a day may wish to reserve one of the park's campsites. Self-guided audio/walking tours point out more than 80 "hot spots" in the area.
Activities for kids include the Death Valley Junior Ranger program workbook, which consists of 15 projects tied directly to the child's personal observation in Death Valley. Upon completion, the child is presented with a Junior Ranger Badge.
