San Fernando Valley
Remember the '80s? Remember valley girls? Well, it all started here, in San Fernando Valley. LA hipsters still like to disrespect the area west of Griffith Park. They shouldn't. This is where many Movie and TV Studios, such as Universal Studios and Disney, are located.

As a visitor, you'll want to check out attractions such as the studios, most of which offer tours, or the restored 1797 Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana, or even the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.

The other valley, San Gabriel, is east of Los Angeles. A farming area not so long ago, it's now solid with suburbs, including towns such as Pasadena, Covina, and Arcadia. Hispanic families have lived here since the nineteenth century, and Asian immigrants since early in the twentieth -- but in the last decade of the twentieth century, this valley's suburbs became predominantly Latino and Asian.

Visitors will find lots to attract them, including the Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, the Santa Anita Park thoroughbred racetrack, Caltech (the California Institute of Technology), and the Tournament of Roses every year in Pasadena.
